Why should I invest in an anormorphic Lens now that I have zoom and lens memories?

There are 3 main reasons why people may want an anamorphic Lens:

Increased image size from limited throw distance


ISCO lenses are recognised to provide superior quality for optical image conversion without a loss in light or resolution. Because of their quality ISCO lenses are commonly used for professional Cinema applications, as well as Home Cinema..

There are 2 lenses available - ISCO 2 and ISCO 3. The difference between these is that the ISCO 3 is larger, giving it a larger aperture and therefore meaning it suffers less from pincushion (but size significantly increases cost with optics). For superior quality we would always recommend the ISCO 3 lens if the budget allows. This would also provide a longer term investment as optical technology is unlikely to change in the future and the ISCO 3 is more likely to work with future generations of projectors.

Advantages of ISCO 3 lens

This provides a larger aperture thus resulting in less pincushioning. This means that this lens can be used with throw ratios below 2.0:1. We do however recommend always using the longest throw possible to minimise the amount of pincushioning.

Anamorphic Attachments

The long-standing aspect ratio used by Hollywood since the 1950s has been 1.85:1 or Cinemascope. Cinemascopes` advantage is in its`super-wide frame: no other mainstream aspect ratio can engage the viewer with sweeping vistas and exciting action scenes better. With ISCO anamorphic lenses, mounting solutions and accessories, bringing Cinemascope into your home theater is possible. By using the same brand of optics that are used in commercial multiplexes, you can be sure that ISCO home theater products will never yield anything less than cutting-edge precision and accuracy.

About Isco Home Cinema

ISCO produces anamorphic lenses for home theater use in the same manner that they have been produced for movie theaters around the world. The idea of bringing all of the projector’s light to the screen and not compromising resolution is paramount in today’s world of high-definition digital projection technology.

The advantage of using our 1.33x anamorphic attachments in converting aspect ratios is that they optically decompress 16:9 native format to 2.25:1 Cinemascope format. All of the projector’s light and native 16x9 resolution can then used to create a full-framed image, not unsightly “black bars” at the top and bottom of the screen.

Accessories

ISCO provides stands and adapters for nearly all projectors and common mounting arrangements in the field of digital projections.

The Motorized Sled II is compatible with ISCO’s Multistand II and series of lens-specific adapter rings to make for easy integration. The Multistand II allows for fine adjustment of the anamorphic lens by first allowing the user to attach the lens via a lens-specific adapter ring and then adjust the height of the lens and setting it before then adjusting pitch. The Multistand II bracket is compatible with the Motorized Sled II and is also able to me mounted to a projector mounting plate via pre-drilled holes in the base plate.

Please note that the lens comes with the lens ring (as seen in the picture), but is missing the multistand base and legs. There is also no flight case, but can supply a PELI case (for an additional fee) for storage if required.
